TeamSTEPPS Training Opportunities: Frequently Asked Questions
To be eligible to participate in an AHRQ-facilitated TeamSTEPPS for Diagnosis Improvement training, you must live in the U.S. or U.S. territories, not have participated in another AHRQ-facilitated TeamSTEPPS training in 2024, and at least two additional members of your organization must also participate in a Diagnosis Improvement training.
Individuals are not eligible to participate in the TeamSTEPPS for Diagnosis Improvement trainings because this course is intended for organizational implementation rather than individual use.
To be eligible to participate in the TeamSTEPPS for Diagnosis Improvement trainings, at least three (3) members of your organization must participate as a training team. Teams should be comprised of individuals who can help implement TeamSTEPPS tools and strategies at your organization. This should include individuals who come from broad multidisciplinary backgrounds, including clinicians and non-clinicians.
A maximum of 30 participants per organization may participate in TeamSTEPPS for Diagnosis Improvement training.
Courses sizes will differ based on interest and availability. Most trainings will have between 10 and 30 participants.
Your team will participate in training alongside eligible participants from other organizations based on interest and availability. Trainings are open to frontline providers, support staff, healthcare teams, educators, allied health, quality improvement organizations, students, system leaders, patients, and change teams across disciplines.

AHRQ is offering virtual TeamSTEPPS trainings at no cost to participants though November 2024. Participants may choose to earn CEU credits for a fee. Please visit this page for more information about CEUs.
CEUs are available for participants to purchase. You will receive a code for purchasing CEUs after you complete your training. You can learn more about CEU options here.
Yes, all participants will receive a certificate after completing the TeamSTEPPS for Diagnosis Improvement training.
TeamSTEPPS is designed for teams who work in any care setting. Frontline providers and teams in disciplines from pediatrics to surgery to neonatology have experienced improvements in teamwork, communication, and patient outcomes as a result of their participation in TeamSTEPPS.
The TeamSTEPPS curriculum focuses on embracing the positive aspects of incorporating new teamwork and communication strategies into practice and recognizing the patient focus as the purpose of learning new skills. Faster care for stroke patients and fewer surgical complications are among the numerous success stories shared by healthcare teams who have participated in TeamSTEPPS.
